Rovius Ops Manager: Instant and Complete Insight into Your Cloud Infrastructure
Enterprise infrastructure today spans across on-premises resources and multiple clouds, both public and private. Insight into its performance has gained prime importance for both cloud service providers (CSPs) and cloud service consumers. An ideal cloud monitoring platform can help CSPs by enabling them to control and manage the infrastructure and at the same time provide key performance indicators to consumers.
Rovius Ops Manager, shipped as a part of Rovius Cloud, is designed to provide operational insight into your cloud infrastructure. It caters to the needs of cloud service providers (CSPs) as well as consumers through its powerful role-based access control framework.
Rovius Ops Manager is capable of surfacing key monitoring metrics, key alerts, notifications, user actions, events, and logs for all components within your cloud. As a CSP, you can keep track of the performance and capacity of your cloud infrastructure and manage it effectively with these metrics. For cloud service consumers, Ops Manager enables a deeper understanding of operational issues by combining logs from multiple data sources.
Monitoring at a glance
Rovius Ops Manager gives you a unified view of the health parameters of all resources within your cloud infrastructure. Its out-of-the-box dashboards generate visualizations of key metrics and highlight the associated errors and alerts. Resource capacity, current utilization, state of key components, etc. are shown aggregated for each zone and you can also get a drill-down view on a per-zone basis. The monitoring dashboard gives you visual indications around metrics that have crossed threshold values. You can also see the threshold values and compare current resource utilization to decide if you need to take any action like capacity expansion or modification of threshold limit, etc.
The dashboard also shows the health status of key cloud system components. So, you’ll quickly be able to verify whether issues experienced by users are because of system component failure or due to a different reason and take appropriate action. Cluster level key parameters can also be seen in the out-of-the-box dashboard.
The infrastructure section of the dashboard provides a summary view as well as a detailed view of resources segregated at the zone level. You’ll be able to see key physical and virtual components in each zone and their current state. This will help you spot issues with infrastructure components quickly.
Capacity utilization of your infrastructure
Rovius Ops Manager provides capacity utilization charts for key resources within your cloud infrastructure. You can expand or drill-down the charts to focus on and analyze unusual spikes. This helps ensure optimum resource utilization within your cloud infrastructure. These charts will also let you identify trends in resource utilization and help you understand when to provision additional resources.
Retain your precious data
To simplify operations activities for you, Rovius Ops Manager needs to scan through a huge amount of data and logs from all the physical and virtual resources in the cloud. Rovius Ops Manager stores this data in the internal data lake. Storing and managing such massive data volumes over a longer duration can cause additional overheads for cloud administrators. However, Rovius Ops Manager provides the flexibility to define the retention and archival policy for this data. It allows you to configure an external drive or S3 volume for archiving older data and retain it for longer time intervals without worrying about loss of data or operational issues due to limited disk space on the infrastructure running Rovius Ops Manager.
